Marabu Charcoal

Marabu is best restaurant-quality charcoal, long burning time, neutral in smell and sustainably made. Marabu is a very hard wood that grows in Cuba and is considered a kind of weed here. The tree/shrub multiplies rapidly and causes native crops to disappear, making felling necessary to give native plants and trees room to develop. The Marabu is characterised by large spines. The charcoal is characterised by round stick-shaped pieces because it is made of round branches. Heat release Burning energy value : 31.9 MJ/kg Moisture percentage <7% Suitable for BBQ Burning Due to the hard structure of the wood, the Marabu is moredifficult to light. We recommend always lighting the Marabu with kindling. Due to the long burning time of Fancy Flames kindling, the charcoal has enough time to ignite. We will never advise using a leaf lighter for this, as air is constantlying blown, which can cause the Marabu to spark slightly. Leave the lid of the barbecue open for a while until there is a nice glowing pit. From there you can steer the barbecue to the desired temperature and the Marabu will remain at this temperature for hours. The Marabu is very mild/neutral in aroma and flavour and is therefore very suitable for adding your own smoking wood.
